Bee Suits for Kids
« on: February 15, 2014, 01:32:56 pm »
Isn't it cheaper to just take a small full body-zip up suit...and scissor the arms & legs short, rather than buy a kids suit for alot more?  Is that the worst thing in the world if a small suit cut down is a bit loose fitting on a  kid?...  The bees can't get a flat landing pad on the shoulders, etc as easily.  Isn't that the idea to wear dads oversized hat so everybody can laugh and take pictures for later on in life.

I got some jackets from Pigeon Mountain Trading for $30 iird. Nice, thick material for the kids stuff. Too hot for me to want to wear it but kids aren't going to be doing much heavy lifting and spending the whole day in the beeyard either.

My son is now on his third. His first suit was a sherriff, and I posted it on a forum and a member down South bought it. They certainly aren't hard to sell.
The one he has now he has almost outgrown but has hardly worn due to his reluctance to working the bees since he got stung a few years ago. I keep hoping he will "come around".

A full size Sherriff will run you about $250 up here. I have one that I use when it's not too hot out. It is by far the most comfortable suit excepting when it's hot. On hot days I love my Ultrabreeze.

Before I shop for a bee suit for my granddaughter who is 5 years old..

Is there anyone out there who might have a childrens suit, or a small adult suit for sale?

Give me a day will you Jen? I will get my son to try his on and if it doesn't fit him anymore I will see if he will part with it.

check with your local bee club. I know there are a couple of kids suites in ours that get passed around.

Sorry Jen I have one that my daughters used when they were little, but I use it in the bee display at the IPE fair each year.
