Swarms draw comb!
« on: June 17, 2017, 05:57:20 pm »
I caught this swarm on a Wednesday and moved it to a yard that night. On Monday morning the landowner called to say she thought they were swarming and sent me this pic.

I said that they were just bearding, not swarming, but I would be over the next day to check it out. On Tuesday I arrived and opened the hive. I had hived the swarm on 2 frames of drawn comb and 8 frames with new wax-coated plastic foundation.
I found all 8 frames of foundation completely drawn and filled to the brim with nectar, not room for another drop. I immediately dropped a second deep and a honey super on!
Clover is just starting so hang on to your hats, it could be a wild ride for the next few weeks! :D :eusa_dance:
