Perry,

As an outsider I have to ask. Is the push to bring in colonies due to a shortage of Nova Scotia colonies or a desire to drive down pollinator fees?

We now have more than enough hives in Nova Scotia to meet the pollination demand!
The largest beekeeper and blueberry magnate does not want to be told where they can get bees from and is willing to throw everyone else in the Province under the bus to prove it.

Got my signs ready for tomorrow, heading into the city bright and early.

I hope it works for you Perry.  A few hive beetles began showing up in my hives this week.

Gave the pressure test to four of them today-they failed.

Minister Colwell has been manipulative, deceitful, obstructionist, and has clearly been show to curry favour with the corporation driving this nonsense. The sign is a bit of a "play" on words I thought appropriate. ;)

Protest done! We were introduced and acknowledged in the Legislature, and the Opposition parties grilled the Minister who continued his obfuscation of the facts. Once outside we had a couple members of the Opposition come out and talk with us and had their photos taken with us as well. We even made it on the CBC news but I can't edit the piece out of a one hour news program.
The local paper also put in an article. http://www.thechronicleherald.ca/novascotia/1463971-beekeepers-seek-ban-on-imported-hives

John Lohr, Agriculture critic. His party supports a ban on the importation.

Mr. Tim Houston, MLA who asked the tough questions at an earlier committee meeting.

Read an article today that said there are 124 bee keepers with 28000 hives in your area. Some one has a lot of hives.

The biggest outfit is also the blueberry magnate that makes the rules and has a friendly relationship with the government. They have 11,000 of those hives.

Hi Perry - Thanks for doing this.  I have been off this board for a bit and was not aware, but I'll try to be more diligent going forward.  Puts me in a bit of a dilemma going into this election, but I'll figure that out over the next few weeks.  Let me know if you plan any other actions and I will do what I can to speak out on this issue as well.
