A rough spring
« on: April 24, 2017, 02:43:29 pm »
It has been a rough spring in the bakersdozen household.  Prayers would be appreciated.
On April 3 my mother had a stroke at age 87. She is a devout Christian.  It has been a roller coaster of emotions.  I will spare you all the details. We are respecting her wishes and making her comfortable in a nursing home.  Hospice has been called in.

On Easter Sunday, my Mother in Law suffered a small stroke.  She is 90 and has been in a nursing home for 2 years.  Her health has been in a slow decline for several years.   Hospice has been called in.

Both my husband and I are distraught and are finding the need to rely on each other even more.

The "icing on the cake" that almost did us in was the sewer line at our house collapsing.  The repair was completed this morning, but we had to wait 5 days for the crew to come in and fix it.  The actual delay was because the city wanted to inspect the work before closing the trench up.  I can laugh now, but we have had some pretty tense moments around here.

Needless to say, I have not attended to my hives as I should.  They have been moved down the ladder of life.  The only hive with honey supers on is a swarm I lured last year.  That mean, mean, mean colony is starting it's 3rd honey super.

Hey B12.
Please accept my best wishes for you and your family, you are in my thoughts. We all face these things a some point but your situation is twice as difficult that most have to bear.
The sewer line is just one of those things that happens, usually when the wallet has already been tapped in my case. ;D
As for the bees, just remember that they have gotten along just fine long before we arrived on the scene to "take care" of them. You will probably be quite surprised at how they just carry on without us at times.

Baker, sorry to hear both your Mom's have been dealt devastating blows.  However, I bet they had wonderful lives and they know how blessed they are to have a wonderful daughter and son by their sides.  Sending you lots of positivity so you have the strength you will need through this difficult time.  The bees can wait!

Thoughts and prayers sent your way.  I would like to have approved some of the script that was my life, but these big events often come all at once, don't they...They cannot be scheduled in advance.  Just roll with the punched bakersdozen.    :)

bakers, my thoughts, prayers and well wishes to you and your family. a very rough time for you.

i had been thinking you had been absent these past few weeks.  i missed your presence on the forum. thanks for sharing with us.

as far as the hives being moved down the ladder of life...........it's all good, they will be fine. it is amazing how the bees can take care of themselves for a very extended period of time without tending to them.

take care of yourself. know that you have long distance support and caring friends/'family' here.

please keep us posted.  my heart goes out to you.

Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts.
Mom passed away this morning.  She died peacefully with her family around her.  Mom was fortunate enough to be active and able to live alone right up to the time of her stroke, able to drive and was sharp as a tack.  I think that's a pretty good way to go.

My deepest condolences, there is some solace in the fact that she was independent right up to the stroke. :(

My heart goes out to you, my friend. Your family will be in my families prayers.
Our Lord promises that he will never place more on us than we can bear. I think he has to prove that to us all once in a while. Rely on Him for comfort. It's there for the asking.
