Can I sell a nuc today.. that I pulled today?
« on: April 20, 2017, 07:47:25 pm »
Just now got into my last wintered double med nuc to split. Stuffed with bees and wonky comb. Found the queen made up another nuc. Can I sell that nuc today... or right now?

If it looks like something YOU'D want to purchase (if in the market for nucs)  i see no reason not to sell today.  Jmo, Ted.

jen, what's in the nuc girl? (frame wise) and did you put the overwintered queen in there?

if you put the overwintered queen in there (the nuc), i would want to make sure she continues to lay............

CBT, even if it's last years queen? Geez.. This queen is a laying machine!

There is everything in the nuc, capped brood, just a few eggs, larvae, a frame of pollen with stored sugar syrup. Mmmm, drones. And so many bees that I didn't have to shake any in.

I'll be checking that for sure.

Question: If I have three frames of capped brood in the middle of the nuc, should I put the frame of open comb in between the three frames of capped brood or off to the side against the wall of the nuc? Thinking the queen may be more apt to lay if the open comb is more accessible...

She will travel to find a place to lay. Keep the eggs warm.

jen, like perry said keep the brood frames together.......add the extra frame off to the outside of the brood frames.
