Rrat, Kingd, and prob Perry

Phoebe got spayed a couple weeks ago. Everything is fine except we can't keep her from licking the incision and surrounding area, and it's getting real red and inflamed. The problem lies in that the hood that they put on her before she woke up from surgery isn't working because her neck is so long and the same shape for about 10 from her jaw to her shoulders. So the hood slips down to her shoulders and she can reach around and lick and irritate her incision.

We've been spraying this stuff called YUK on it to keep her from licking, and it doesn't faze her. Is there any other ideas?

Cut up an old sweater so that it looks like a tube top (remember those?) and then simply slide it over her belly to cover the incision. Either that or buy a belly band, something used for male dogs suffering from incontinence.

Isn't that right Neil!  ;D  I often get better advice here than from the doc off. Usually I come here first  ;) 8)

Ya got that right Rrat! I would say that Phoebe is more of a thinking dog than a playing dog. Whatever we are doing she's analyzing it!

I was thinking about the sweater thing too, I have seen people use old t-shirts that way too.

From my pet store days,I did see a few different setups that people made.

Theos new thing is helping with seasoning of the cast iron I restore. He patiently waits and watches hoping I put the paper towel with Crisco on it down so he can snatch it and take off.  Once I learned what he was doing I started putting it up.  So what was his solution.  He stole the oven mitt when I was done and chewed a hole on the inside of thumb area.  Didn't take long to find the hole :D

:D Phoebe's latest thing is... When I'm leaning over and giving attention to our old 14 year old dog, I shift and move from side to side not letting Phoebe in on the lovin' because she just bowls Katy over. So Phoebe goes behind me and pushed her head thru the backs of my legs and pushes her big self all the way thru  :D
