I was reading if the pollen stops coming in like in a rainy day the pollen food distribution gets less to the foragers and workers remove eggs to limit hive size until pollen is plentiful. I will be maintaining a box of pollen sub powder in each apiary to supplement any lacking periods. I think every year I'm getting closer to being a beekeeper. Time will tell.
