Hrmmm...   It looks like it uses a liquid, which would mean that Oxalic Acid would have to be dissolved into liquid state so that it can be pumped through the burner?
If that is the case, what density liquid mixture would have to be used?
I have never heard of Liquid OA being vaporized in that way before... or am I way off base in what I am seeing and imagining?

I have read of 99% liquid wood bleach being used in a vaporizer. Likely have to be careful not to spill when shoving it in the entrance.

that's the same kind of vaporizer the fat man & others were using to vaporize mineral oil in hives. I think that the mineral was proven to be fairly ineffective.

if you search burgess foggers you can find them from $30.00-$65.00.

From what I recall these things were really only used for fogging with mineral oils in some attempt to reduce mite loads, but really ewere not that effective. I think Efmesch might have some info.

if you could get the right ratio for liquid acid it might work. i'd be concerned that acid vapor would damage the vaporizer pretty quickly. you'd also need a full face respirator some good PPE.

Watching all the videos around the net a JB 700 caught my eye. Seems simple. It's from that place in Canada land. You know the one that makes the real good one.

I am not knocking that one CBT, but I have been following it and some people who bought one. They have had some issues with it. The business has been fantastic to deal with in regards to follow up and such, but I think I would wait.
Instead, I am considering getting this instead. About the same money (give or take).

I was thinking of a spring project. I have spare heater blocks. I really like the one you showed in your thread. And at 2.2 amps 110 volt the input for inverter would need 22 amps 12 volts continuous. A single wire car alternator with a 3 hp motor would run it. I think Lazy may have the motor set up for his vaporizer.

Yep. pics and a vid about 2/3 of the way down the page. Vid is of two vaporizors running at the same time.

i'm using one of these. it's rechargeable.  they also make models with a built in power invertor so it could be used to power the vaporizer perry posted. they range in price from $39.00 to over $200.00.

Folks are using the foggers and a carrier for the OA... some I think are using Ethel alcohol. The dosages I have seen folks mention are far less than the 1g per deep for OA. I would spend the extra and go with the Provap Perry posted. Check the post from snl on beesource..

I've been researching the various devices that are available. the wands & the sublimators convert th O.A. into a gas. the vaporizers convert a liquid into steam. I'm not sure what the vaporizers are converting the oils into, probably a vapor. would the steam produced by liquids be too hot or would it cool enough by the time it hit the bees. the gizmo Perry put up looks to be the easiest to use but I have yards where I have no access to electricity & I'd rather not have to buy another generator. my current generator requires 2 people to load.
