That's why I always stress about using stuff off label or anything like that. If it is not approved for use, you are taking a huge risk.

Do you have any cabbage grower up there Perry, it was made to target cabbage worm type pests?
I understand it only works on worm like pests. Locks up there gut.

I can understand the temptation to use Oxytetracycline to treat AFB.

In the UK, there is no approved treatment for AFB. Once the disease is confirmed the affected hives have the bees, comb, frames and honey burned. The boxes are flamed. The apiary is put on lock-down. No bees or equipment can be moved from the site until further examinations show no sign of the problem. Other apiaries around the source are also put on lock-down until checked by a Bee Disease Inspector.

OTC is not approved because, although it clears up the signs of AFB, there is a residual risk of the disease flare up and spread.

Rober,
do you have something to show that it is approved in the state of MO?
Just asking because I have never seen or heard of this.
It is not listed on the labeling that comes with BT itself.

In Kansas, starting January 1, 2016, beekeepers will have to get a prescription from a veterinarian to get and use Terramycin.  I picked up a canister at the last minute, just in case.  I haven't had the need to use it yet.

Same in NC. If you could find a vet to agree that you need some who would you give the prescription to?
