My mother waxed the floors, but not quite like that.   :o

That's what I was thinking. It's gotta be good for the wood.

Wow!  Sorry to hear that.  It's probably why my dear sweet wife eyeballs me every time I make candles!  I can't even imagine the clean up.

the oak hardwoods are the original from 1960's ........old stuff. 1 and 1/2 inch in width. red and white, beautiful wood!  i just about flipped. well i did flip because we were scheduled to have this floor in the living room refinished, ya know, sanded and finished (oil base)..........well this wax had all sorts of stuff in it; that sort of works like oil/sealer.  sanding can and will take some of it off the top but not what soaked in.......oh welll.  can't imagine if i had dumped this on the finished flooring (oil based) i think it would have been okay.  never mind that, i have never been so mad at myself!

true you guys, one way to wax the floor!  the cleanup..............?
i am sure the floor/oak hardwood will be alright. my mistake and the cleanup was a real stinker.......... :D

Ugh!   :eusa_wall:
Were you able to save any of the wax? or were you too upset over the flooring to care?
I was just remembering, yesterday, the biggest mess I ever made was with a half gallon of honey.  The bottom fell out of the jar and honey went all over the stove, floor, and counter.  Improper heating will do that.   I was so disgusted with myself for wasting all that honey.

FWIW, I spilled some melted wax on a memorable occasion...some even streaked and splattered down the wall near the spill site.  My wife went to google and found the clean up strategy that worked.  To remove the last remaining bits of wax all you need is a steam iron, (capable of a penetrating burst of steam), and a roll of paper towels.

Put the paper towel over the last of the wax and a burst of steam through the towel magically melts the wax which is then immediately absorbed into the paper towel.  It worked on the floor and the textured wall, (with two layers of paper towel).  Not beeswax, it was from a tank I dip my hands in for arthritis pain, but will work for you when your spill is in the house & high risk.  High Risk to me because I  spilled it in her house!

Lee, I know about this technique with a steam iron. I had a candle drip down a wall and into my carpet. It works quite nicely, takes a little time but is easy to do.

My good wife has a steam iron with the mother of all pulse charges.  It worked well!  :)

I didn't know the iron trick, and I spilled about six ounces of over flow on the stove top and lower cabinets.  My thoughts are if I spilled three pounds I would sell the house and move before cleaning it up.  :):)  I will remember the iron and paper towel process.
