Welcome
« on: September 20, 2016, 07:59:16 pm »
I hope that I am posting to the Welcome Subject Forum!

Hello, I am glad to join the forum and already have enjoyed the response to the first of many questions as I am in my second season with 2 hives. I am retired from healthcare, 63 years young, live on 30 acres in the Piedmont of North Carolina with a nice 3 acre pond, old Quaker built 1818 (former wayfarer's inn) home, on 30 acres, with 2 canine mutts (Maggie and Doc), 1 black cat for good luck (Bagheera), and I'm guessing 80,000 worker bees with 2 queens (Elizabeth and Isabella). All keeps me busy and out of "trouble". Sadly my father passed away 7/11/2015 (his father/my grandfather was a beekeeper on a cotton farm in Waxahachie, TX). I miss them both, the bees help with this. I like living in nature and observing the plants and animals and sky. In college I was art (painting) major and used to paint quite a bit. Now I am less interested in "stuff" accumulating and just like to look at the colors and light and landscape with an artist's eye, I suppose. I enjoy cooking, some gardening (moreso in the past), mowing is easy on the riding mower and centers my mind too. Life is good. I feel blessed. I look forward to the friendly ways of WorldWideBeekeeping and learning more!

Hey Mintaphil:

I love your attitude.  I too like to cook and mow.  Something about the orderliness of mowing tweaks my psyche.  As to the welcome, I hope you stay with us.  We are a happy, friendly, well mannered group.  As the TV shows says, "Come on down."

Glad you found us, we like bees and like to get along, even Jack. He may be cantankerous, hard headed, stubborn to a fault, but he tries. :D

Welcome aboard.  I am fairly new here as well and they have all let me stick around, which is awfully nice of them.   :D  I have learned a great deal from all of the big brains here, and I am sure you will have the same experience.  I am looking forward to reading your posts and learning from you as well.

I may have come in late with my donation to the words of welcome, but thaat's only because I've been a bit busy lately and not too active..  But with your description of your interests, it sounds like you've come to the right place---nice beekeepers and nice people populate this forum.
