5 Gallon Bucket Bee Swarm Catcher
« on: May 11, 2014, 05:03:49 pm »
Hi all.  I quickly put together a swarm bucket catcher this afternoon with an older bucket that had cracked on the bottom, 3 copper pipe straps, 6 self tapping screws and an old pool extendable tool pole.  I used six pieces of scrap wood chunks for backers inside the bucket so the screws didn't end up poking me or the bees.  I can take it apart and store it in the truck very easily.  The end of the pole pushed against the bottom of the rim to keep the pole from sliding up and over the bucket opening.  I should prove to be useful one or two time a season.

Ha! Yeap, I think it will fit.  I have a suit, nuc and gloves in there all month of May.  You know what, if you were wondering about the skies, it poured like a crazy just after these photos.

Scott, I have two extra poles just like it.  Come on up and I will give ya one.  Tom, thanks for the compliment, I am glad I am finished with those.  Yes, the truck bed, or my 8 foot ladder.  I should be able to get many high ones with that.

   Ayup!
My wife is head of health and safety for a good company. She preaches safety..
I was flipping a house, and she decided she could do some painting..  GREAT!!!
I walked around the corner...  she had the truck backed up, the ladder in the truck SITTING on two five gallon buckets..   EMPTY buckets...
Every time she gets on me about being safe I remind her of the buckets...  she denies ever doing that....
